Research Biolabs is the largest and leading life science company in South East Asia. It provides a complete range of life science products and services to the life science research, biomedical and healthcare sectors. It offers a comprehensive range of products and services including life science instruments, kits and reagents, molecular diagnostic products as well as clinical diagnostic instruments, kits and reagents.

Research Biolabs established with a headquarter office in Singapore has a team of trained biotechnology professionals including several PhDs who are dedicated to serving the needs of researchers and research institutions.

To complement its life science product offerings Research Biolabs has established a state of the art genomic facilities in Singapore that offers genomic services including synthetic DNA synthesis, DNA sequencing and plasmid preparation services.  A recent addition to our facility is the starting up life science product training and demonstration laboratory and conference facilities at its Ayer Rajah office.

With the combination of the professional team and facilities, Research Biolabs is able to offer unparallel services to all its customers in Singapore as well as the region.

Management Team

Research Biolabs has a highly qualified management team to serve the Life Science and Biomedical community. The key management team members are:

Sue Yap, General Manager

Ms Sue Yap is the co-founder and General Manager of the company. Sue Yap is a biologist by training (B. Sc Honours Degree). She is also an MBA graduate from the National University of Singapore. With more than 20 years of experience in the Life Science industry, she is the driving force behind the company. Under her leadership, working towards our Philosophy Research Biolabs has grown from a startup in 1993 to a fully integrated Life Science company with Life Science consumables and instrument distribution, Life Science consumables manufacturing and Life Science services as its key areas of business.

Dr Chen Xiaoge, Research and Laboratory Manager

With her PhD from National Technological University in Environmental Engineering, Dr Chen worked many years as Research Scientist in National Technological University in the same area. She is responsible for the company's Genomic Services and Manufacturing (DNA and SiRNA) division. She also heads the research and development efforts of the company. With her years of experience as a research scientist in NTU she has a very good appreciation of the needs of researchers in particular in the requirements of efficient services and quality products. In this regards, she has set very high standard for this important division of the company and customers can be best assured of highest quality products and services.

Dawn Lee, Sales Manager

Dawn has a Bachelor's Degree in Science from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and has extensive experience with Life Sciences consumables and instruments. She is in charge of the overall sales of Research Biolabs leading a team of five product specialist. With her sales experiences and a customer centric approach, she understands the expectation of our customers and delivers satisfactory and best services to them.

Mavin Ooi, Sales Manager, Research Biolabs Malaysia

Mavin obtained his BSc in 2002 and started his career with Research Biolabs in a sales position until his recent promotion to Sales Manager in July 2006.

Yeap Wan Seng, Manager (Instruments Division)

Wan Seng holds a MSc (Bioinformatics) from National University of Singapore and a BSc (Hons) from University of Malaya . Prior to his masters studies, Wan Seng worked as a Bioinformatics researcher supporting biological applications. Undergoing intensive training from Qiagen and all our principles together with his background and experience, he is able to provide our customers with an unparalleled level of instruments and technical support. He continuously update news of instruments providing our customers with latest news.

Dr Alvin TC Lee, Manager (Business Unit)

With his PhD from National University of Malaysia in Philosophy (Biochemistry), Dr Lee worked many years in National Cancer Centre of Singapore as a Research Scientist. In addition, he received the Singapore Millennium Foundation scholar in 2006. With his years of experience as a research scientist, he is responsible for the company’s micro-array sales and service. He understands the needs of customers and delivers satisfactory solution to solve problems.

Rashidah Bte Mohd Nordin, Technical Support Specialist

Rashidah obtained her BSc in Biochemistry from National University of Singapore. After which she joined us as a customer service officer and was also responsible of NEB and CST technical support. With her years of knowledge in science and experience in technical support, she was appointed as our technical support specialist.  She is responsible for giving professional recommendation to customer enquiry related to consumables. With many years of experience, she can almost immediately provide our customer with a solution.

Desmond Lee, Service Engineer

Desmond holds a BSc (Hons) in Engineering from University of Wales Swansea. Desmond worked as a service engineer for many years and is factory trained at  Qiagen and other principles in Europe and USA . With his experiences and skills, he provides our customers with excellent after sales service and precise setup of instruments delivering optimum performance.
